I* thought all under carriages were painted in RED primer when leaving the GM plant . If undercoating was called for , it would be competed at the dealership???

Learn something new all the time. Looking at the under carriage of this 64, it appears to be painted in light gray primer, with the rear side of the trunk well painted with a strip of dark black paint. I remember Vern FRANTZ telling us at a late great chevy convention, that the factory painted the rear of the trunk well with a strip of black paint so that it would hide the red primer when looking at the car from the rear. That was the part you would see under the rear bumper. That is what I did on my Red 62 Convertible with the red primer. When the car was being judged at AACA shows the judges would ask me why I had black paint on the red primer in the rear only!!!!
