Bad day for 409 lifter failure

Crower kind of back pedaled on the bushings on the street after they recommended the first go round on his motor. Problem seems to be the needle bearing either getting oil or quality. Oil at idle is diminished as they mainly rely on splash at higher rpm.

My Comp for the W are SBC lifters with a SBF link bar-and of course you have to order the SBF links additional as a separate part and $ and have the extra SBC laying around

I asked on your Facebook post, why doesn’t the link bar on the bad lifter pair say”Howard’s” like the ones still in the engine?

Was it a different brand?

Curious : Is that a crack in the roller end of the lifter next to the failed lifter in the last pick?

Can you take a close up picture of the the number 1 and 2 cylinders ( 2 front ) lifters. I want to makes sure my eyes are not playing games on me.

Just wondering what the needles look like in the bearing and the pin. If failure was lubrication the pin and bearing parts should show that.
If the body is failing, like from a fracture, I would think there is a good chance another lifter might show similar and the bearing would.
Any root cause analysis ever been undertaken?
