I have a '68 LightningMy first motorcycle was a little 1965 Suzuki 80cc trailbike and I traded that off for a Yamaha 100 Twin Jet, and then in 1972 I bought a 1967 BSA lightening for my first big bike.

Thanks, Mark. You can see the whole build on the Honda 305 Forum. Go to "250 and 305 Motors", then page 7, 8th thread down. It's called "engine build- slowly but surely". Lots of pics. I put a Honda CX 500 front end on this bike. Also page 11, 7th thread down is a thread where I cannibalized 3 cranks to build one good one. I had to press the cranks apart, .002" interference press - took every thing my 20 ton press had! Had to build alignment tools to do the job. Thread is called "Dream crank becomes SuperHawk crank". A Honda Dream used a 360 deg. crank, whereas the SuperHawk used a 180 deg. crank.Very, very nice, you've set this up real nice. I bought and old 1965 red frame Hawk quite a few years ago, the motor was froze then and it remains frozen I never did anything with it, it still sits in the barn. Have you ever been to one of the vintage Japanese bike show/swap meet out near Harrisburg Pennsylvania at the White Rose motorcycle club? Not a real large swap meet but some good stuff there, and it's a pretty good time, you and can camp there too, and it's in a real nice setting too.
