Brake shoe recommendations needed

The front brake shoes were replaced about 1000 miles ago, but the car has been sitting for nearly two years now. Front brakes don't feel like they once did, I'm sure it's not the 409 replacing the 283. The rear brakes are working hard. Proportioning valve is set right (conversion to dual master) and peddle is not spongy.

Do I need to consider a different set of brakes shoes for the front drums? If so, recommendations are now being solicited :).

I was thinking pull the front drums and see if the shoes are glazed after sitting a bit. Can I rough these up a bit with sandpaper? What grit?

Need to get these working better so I can enjoy a few cruises this weekend!

Cheers!

Tom - Cruise night??? Great news!!! I know that you will have a big crowd around your car.

I used Raybestos p/n 227PG. They are a stock replacement. NAPA should have them as well as rockauto.com

I know that there are some hi-tech brake shoes out the that might offer more braking power.
