Burning condensers

A friend has a 67 firebird convertible that he just got finished. Pretty much everything, from top to bottom, is new. He's having a problem with his condenser burning. All the wiring on the car is new.

Any ideas as to what might cause this? Is a ballast resistor needed? Any help would be great!

That would be my guess as they should have a resistor unless there is a resistor wire built in to the new harness. Maybe it is supposed to have a resistor wire but the manufacturer didn't put one in it. Maybe the best would be to call the harness manufacturer.:dunno

Check the voltage on the power feed at the coil while the engine is running. It should be around 8 volts. If it is running 12-14 volts, it will need to have a ballast resister added to the system. Also, there should be provision to provide 12 volts to the coil while cranking the engine.
