convertible pump question

I had a 59 convertible from 61-63. At that time I used brake fluid in the pump to raise the top. Is brake fluid still recommended? This is for a 62?

I don't know where that brake fluid in the conv. top pump crap came from although it's recommended in the old shop manuals. When I restored our '65 Buick 11 years ago, every pump seller I called said to switch over to red oil. (Tranny fluid). Works great and won't strip your paint if you should get leak or blow a line. Leo
