Difference in 2GCs

Is there a difference between an"283" 2gc and one for the center 348 tri power besides the jetting on a "60"? The one I have is a POS and I'm looking to replace it. I see 2gcs listed from "59" to "63" any suggestions on a good source. Although the one on it now is #s correct that is not important.

The 2gc off thr 283 should be fine for the center carb. You may have to change out the base for the correct bell crank.

I believe the 283's are 3/32 venturi and the 348 trips are 3/16 venturi

Jeff.... going by the info on the chart at the bottom of this thread at the following link... the center carbs are a little different.
On the 283 with manual trans, the venturi's are the same but the jets are different than on the 348.
With the 283 auto trans, jets are the same... venturi's are different than the 348.

Both the venturi's and the jets can be easily swapped between carbs.

So if I can find a good rebuilt for a manual tranny,all I would need to do is rejet it and change throttle shaft for my progressive linkage?

Yes Jeff,That should work fine.After all most of the aftermarket sets sold started out as 283,327 carbs.
