FLEXPLATE FOR 1997 VORTEC

THIS IS A NEW Z166 ATP FLEXPLATE HAS THE WEIGHT WELDED ON THE BACK FOR THE ONE PC REAR MAIN SEAL BALANCING. THE CENTER HOLE IS ABOUT 7 THOU BIGGER THAN THE CRANK HUB. THE 6 TO-CRANK MOUNTING HOLES ARE ABOUT .497" EVEN THOUGH THE CORRECT BOLTS ARE 7/16"... .4375". THE HOLE FOR THE CRANK DATUM PIN IS SOMEWHAT SMALLER BUT STILL NEARLY THE SAME 1/16" O/S. HOW CAN I INSTALL THIS SO IT IS CENTERED AND WONT TRY TO ROTATE? PS I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE HE RECOMMENDED 'LOCKTITE'.

OK I FORGOT TO MENTION I AM BUILDING A 1997 VORTEC SHORT BLOCK WITH FACTORY ROLLER CAM AND ONE PIECE REAR MAIN SEAL CRANK. THE TOP END IS OLD SCHOOL 283 POWER PACK HEADS OR 327 DOUBLE BUMP HEADS DEPENDING ON WHICH ARE LESS EXPENSIVE TO REBUILD. THE 327 HAVE BETTER CFM FLOW BUT THE PP HAVE HIGHER COMPRESSION. HAVE ALUMINUM INTAKE MODIFIED WITH PCV TAP BY DUST AND CORRECT OIL FILLER PIPE IN FRONT. 1965 CHEVROLET SCRIPT VALVE COVERS. GOING INTO OUR NEXT PROJECT CAR THE 1965 IMPALA SS 'OLD GOLD'

NO IF YOU WOULD JUST TAKE THE TIME TO GOOGLE 'ATP Z166' YOU WOULD FIND THAR ROCKAUTO SENT ME THE CORRECT ONE. HERE ALSO IS THE SPEEDWAY LINK;

I DON'T HAVE ANY VORTEC HEADS AND I CAN'T AFFORD THEM AND I DON'T WANT THEM THEY HAVE LATE MODEL ACCY HOLES AND THEY TAKE A UGLY INTAKE MANIFOLD AND THEY ARE CENTER BOLT VALVE COVER. NOT GOING RACING AND NOT GOING TO WORRY ABOUT ANOTHER FLAT CAMSHAFT.

NOBOBY SEEMS INTERESTED IN ADVICE ON INSTALLING THUS FLEXPLATE SO IT WONT VIBRATE OR ROTATE ON THE OVERSIZE BOLTHOLES.

I have never had a problem with a replacement flex plate on the one piece rear main seal block.
Not sure whey you are having a problem unless this one was boxed wrong :dunno

Mine is 2.600 crank hole and .465 bolt holes . pioneer's SFI plate. Vortec heads outflow almost every factory iron head, even bowties.

You might spend more money on rebuilding older heads then getting vortec heads. Or an option is the Trick Flow camel heads. They come with or without bolt holes. Of course the weight savings and obviously uses the classic manifold.

'97 vortec in my brothers '46 Chevy truck. Can get valve covers that look like '60s script andccx eliminate center bolts. He doesnt want to. I would.

YUP THAT IS THE WEIGHT ON THE ENGINE SIDE OF THE FLEXPLATE THAT ROCKAUTO SENT TO ME NEW IN ATP BOX AND LABELED ZZ166. I CAN GET ROCK AUTO YO TAKE IT BACK AND BUY THE SFI THAT YOU MENTION...THANKS I WILL NENTION THE .465 VS THIS ONE .497!

OUCH! THOSE ALUMINUM CAMEL BUMP HEADS ARE $521 EACH....BARE!!!
