Fresh Engine Start Up-stat or no stat?

Fresh 348, was debating if I should pre-load the block w/ antifreeze install the thermostat, or just install the Stat housing with no stat for now and fill the rad on initial start up.
Advice appreciated.

I would use the the thermostat.. but would drill a hole in it. You want it reach operating temps to help seat the rings.

Stat yes, anti-freeze no. Use plain water until after the break in.
