The way I look at it....

I understand that these more "common" engines are less exciting than the truly classic "W" motor, but the way I see it is that the original owner just checked the wrong box when he/she ordered that car back in 1958-1964 :)

Only a few of use were enlightened at that time, and if you had a spouse, they were thinking "station wagon" or "four door" (although there's nothing wrong with those either...

Since I do not own a truly numbers matching big block vehicle from that era (although two of my '61s were "born 348s"), I prefer to think of my retro conversions/clones as "correcting an error of omission made by the original owner". As always is the case, hindsight is easy, foresight is rare. So I'll have to live with clones. Since all I do is drive 'em, that's never a problem, always a pleasure :)
