I despise wiring, so naturally that is all I get to work on of late.

Trying to find brake lights on a Jag, and having even more fun trying to make a Chevy ignition circuit work properly!

Starter would engage as soon as the key was turned.
Rats nest wiring, must be a short.
Rewire all the starter wires, put on new battery cables while I was at it.
No way there's a short now!
Starter still engages as soon as the key is barely turned.
WTF?
Remove ignition switch, check with a light, checks OK.
Put the wires back, problem is back!
Bad solenoid?
Hmmm, seems unlikely, I did not have this problem with the old ignition.
:doh The new ignition has a failure the old did not!

Turns out the brand spankin' new ignition shorts to the start terminal as soon as it is turned on, but ONLY if the nuts holding the wires to the terminals are tight!

Hecho en Mexico! :cuss

It goes back in the morning.
Now where am I going to find a decent quality switch?

Good luck !!!

Seems these aftermarket companies don`t give a dang about quality anymore!!:doh

I have spent the last month trying to get a good rebuilt power steering pump for my T-Bird.

The first rebuilt one howled and growled and got worse everyday.
So out it came and back to exchange it for the next one.
Well not only did the next one howl but it leaked.
so, out it came and back to get the third one,,,,:cuss

Ok,,, so the third one didn`t leak the first day but howled,, then the second day it started to leak,, and everyday after that leaked worse.
Thats three if you are keeping track.

So after a couple weeks looking and asking around about what I should do the answers I got were not encouraging.
Parts people said I just needed to keep getting the rebuilt ones until I got one that worked. This is common they say,,,
How do you do this if you are a shop?
The rebuild place her in Portland says they can rebuild it but the cost would be $200 or so,,,,:bang

So after a month of frustration in goes a used one that worked !!!

YEP !!! NAFTA sure works great !! Don`t it???:takethat

Trust me the factory stuff isn't much better. I have gotten to the point on some car's were I have given up and put the old part back in a car because it worked better than the new peice of crap:doh
