Mark wilson headers

Hi. Wondering if anyone knows what the best hi torque, block mounted mini starter would be for a set of Mark Wilson headers?

DB Electric or Napa. DB cheapest and work good

When I bought my Wilson headers I bought the DB mini starter also and have bought 4 more since for all my motors! Absolutely awesome

I have 4 DB starters
2 on 62 409s, one on 62 327/300 HP and one on my 57 Chevy 2-4 283/270 HP

Hate to sound like a beating drum. Anyone have a link to them? I just checked and didn't see any mini starters for 348-409 applications. Maybe another universal unit or something that will work?

Yes that is the DB starter I have and used for over 10 years

Hell I might as well order a spare one while where talking about them.

Don’t use the bolts that come with it. Get the original GM bolts. I forget the part number for them

All of my starters used the bolts that came with the starter with washers so they do not bottom out
in the block

GM# 12338064 starter bolts. Even with these i had to put a washer on.

Thanks Barry. Mine didn’t need washers. It is a 6 year old starter. Maybe the nose is a little thicker.

The DB starters bolt vertically into the block.

The bolt holes are a bit too big for a 3/8 bolt .. i drive a 3/8 bronze guide in the starter and ream to fit tight on the bolts ... The starter housing is drilled / finished for a 10mm bolt .. BTW .. i usually use the NAPA starter

Thanks for all the info.. Delco # 9000884 also works. Is similar.
