Since it runs under its own power now I figure you guys might like to see a few pics. I found this car thru a contact on another website. As found it had been parked in 1968 with a 1958 6cyl with a 3speed on the tree. But there were telltale signs of something special. Missing emblems above the cross flags. Dual exhaust hangers, spot for a factory tach on the dash, ballast resistor, reverse light switch, return fuel line, and a perfect untouched torch cut 4 speed hole in the floor. I decided to throw the dice because I love the color...Daytona Blue. When it came home I went over it top to bottom and took pics of everything. There were plastic seat covers still on the interior. I talked with Verne many times and documented what we found. This is an original 409 4 speed car !Sti;; has the original spiral shocks and coils springs..with the spring tags still visible, Even the reinforcement on the upper rear control arm is there...the firewall looks like a billboard with all the crayon ! It shows every trim and color option as well as the 4 spd call out and the factory Body,Paint,Trim, checking station stamps. The car was equipped with a rear speaker, remote mirror and day/night mirror. The original lacquer buffed up nicely too. Should I restore it ? Heeeel no ! I removed the plastic covers, buffed it, cleaned it put on some missing interior pieces and left the rest alone. I had Jack Gibbs put together a LITTLE engine backed by a brand new Auto Gear Muncie M22...it is supposed to have an Aubrey Bruneau rear end in it but after working with Aubrey for a while we got it shipped out and guess what ? Yellow Freight actually LOST an entire drum to drum rear end !!! Back to the drawing boards for that ! As you can see...its turning out pretty nice...chosing the wheels is my next step. I have the steel 09 wheels for 63 with dogdish...but I also have some period mag sets so I'll throw the dice again...this one is gonna be a blast !!I'll start with some of the as found pics (Bob I know pics eat up a lot of space on the site...feel free to edit as many out as you like)
