I am still pondering whether or not to go to a 3.75 stroke crank on my build up. If do go with the 3.75 stoke (396/427) crank will I need to have a truck oil pan for clearnace of the rotating assy? I am unclear if the truck pan is just deeper in the sump area or if the entire pan is deeper.

Probably so?

TomO, I am not certain, but I recall CPG stating that a 348 would need a 409 oil pan if one were to use the 409 crank to stroke it, so I imagine the same would apply for BBC crank.

I do know that when using the modified BBC crank, I had to grind off some of the bottom of the bore in the 409 block to get the con rods to clear :). Same will likely have to happen with your 348 stoker, regardless of crank choice.

Just not sure about the oil pan. You remember what happened to my oil pan, right? And that was a truck pan! Anyone else have any suggestions?

Best,
TomK
