Original GM 4 speed shifter help

Ready to restore this original 4 speed shifter and have a few questions. :dunno
* Looks to be correct shifter right?? What was the finish on the shifter rods and main assembly? Zinc?
* The spring has a metal cover on 2 of the shifters, nothing on the complete shifter. Is the metal cover correct? I do remember seeing some with a rubber boot? Should the spring be lubricated upon assembly?
* Lastly, if it is to be Zinc coated, can anyone recommend a good plater?

It looks like mine is zinc,I don’t know for sure about the rods,but I believe they were bare steel.Mine has the rubber boot and there is grease on the spring.IMG_2798.jpegIMG_2792.jpegIMG_2791.jpegIMG_2793.jpeg
