My dads ragtop has a peculier problem with it, since he got it. It will not shift out of first, even manually while its cold. you half to wait prob 5-10 min . once it warms up, its mint all day. I changed filter, fluid, modulator, with no success.
he had a 409 radiator in it, and it started leaking, so i put my SB rad in it, and he says it dosent take as long to shift now. i havent checked line pressure yet. I have the pg out of my 63 all ready to go, to swap into his car. But i want to ask, am i missing something stupid on his? before i do a tranny swap?

Thanks guys

thanks Gov.

If the PG has a governor like the TH350/400, that could be the problem. Easy access from the side of the trans. Usually just needs to be cleaned of the gunk.

Tom, the governor for your powerglide is on the output shaft at the rear of trany. pull the tailshaft hsg. off and see if it has come apart, broke or is stuck.
