I would put some lithium grease around the large o-ring seal. Make sure the lock ring is engaged all around and tap it with a screwdriver and hammer to lock it in. When I did mine, (62), I didn't make it tight enough and it leaked when I filled up the tank. After driving a few miles the level would drop and it would stop leaking. I had to go back and tighten it some more. You don't have to drop the tank to change out the sender.

^ perfect installation tips. I used vasoline on the large o-ring to make the lock ring rotate easier. I trashed the first lock ring I tried to install dry trying to rotate it with the screw driver and a hammer. It's a but of a frustrating job to get that lock ring locked all the way but you'll find a way that works for you
