Question about 068 409

I found a guy that has a j 61 dated 068 block and he also has a set of j dated 690 heads. Was it possible for the block and heads be cast and assembled in em same month? I ve seen in previous post that the block was made 3 to 5 months before the heads. Is this right or thrown together parts?

Certainly it was possible. There was no schedule and no first in first out inventory control.

They may have been spitting out early 409 blocks faster due to high demand?

The earliest 068 block I've seen is a June 61 casting date.

I've seen an "E 24 61" 068 casting, now residing in the Dallas area .
