rebuild harmonic balancer?

Hey everyone, what is the consensus on this one? do you guys regularly have your balancer rebuilt when you have your engine rebuilt? my balancer looks to be in fine shape without any damage to the rubber at all? Is there something to look for to determine if it should be rebuilt? The timing mark is directly in line with the keyway. I know it's relatively cheap insurance for a rebuilt engine but I hate to do it just for that reason if it's not necessary. Its the smaller balancer and the engine is mainly just for cruising. :dunno :dunno :dunno

Dave, I only have them re-built when the rubber is damaged. Of course after 40 yrs. , most are. But if it looks good, and youre dead sure the timing mark is in the right place, I would use it "as is". Just my opinion. Good luck
