That color is "Jewel Blue" I think. My first car in 1967 was a 1961 Belair "more door" with a 283 and three-on-the-tree and it was that color .

If it had the engine replaced under warranty it would not have a VIN stamped

The engine is a 62 or 63 and is not likely to have been replaced under warranty since it came from a later production car. Normally under warranty it would have been a short block re-using the heads, exhaust, intake, carb, dist. etc from the original. Don't believe the gen is correct either and the invoice is obviously repro. Nice car though.

You are right Cecil.....the front bracket was cast iron....not aluminum.

did the VIN on the engine stamp plate start in 62 for the 409, then on all engines from 63 ?
build date looks like 06E, 5th week of June
