This was in a shed for more than 40 years. Its 348 and a 63 muncie 4 spd. When do you call a engine garbage? Pretty rusty under the intake. Distributor didn't want to come out without some serious prying.

Looks like a good project as long as the engine is not cracked it can and should be fixed we always go thru our engines anyway so the machine shop/hot tank will do wonders . I am in the final stages of turning a choped 34 chevy 3 window coupe into a local cruse in not show car just a play car .IT has a 409 2 four with a 4 speed muncie and a winters quick change .Its rattles and shakes and its hot and noisy and smells like gas and oil its perfect . But there were times i asked myself why i ever started such a project . It cost more than planned and took longer than planned
Double notch block? get a blower/turbo on that badboy.

Rusty for sure but not junk! Not yet anyway. The metal stripping company near my house acid dips rusty blocks and heads that look like that, and they come out looking like a fresh casting (minus pits). Sucks that someone left the draft tube hole open for the mice to get in. Thats how my engine was too. Cool that someone put swing pedals and juice brakes on for ya Did they use one side of the master for brakes, the other side for a clutch? Hard to tell, does that casting date say 61??

Yes, one side clutch other side brake. Marvel oil in the cylinders. I'm not sure on getting lifters out. Gonna soak for a long time I guess. Shifter moves good. The guy bought it when he was 16 then got drafted, got out and had a family but never sold it. He's 80 now ,says doesn't want to sell but knows he'll never do anything with it. I was like the third guy to look at it. The others low ball'd him so I made my offer and he said sure. I say 2g is cheap to get someone else's dream.
