Small Block with out an oil filter?

Just wanted to see if anyone on here has seen a small block 283 that did not have an oil filter. I know the older motors came with a canister style filter but mine does not have the adaptor to even install a canister. The block has the location for the filter but is not machined for either a screw on filter or a canister. It only has a bolt that goes into the block. Please see photos. Hopefully someone on here has seen something like this. The last photo is the bolt that goes into the block.

Its not an adaptor. Its the way the block is cast

Are you certain? If it was cast that way why would there be a bolt? No need for a bolt. The 55 265's had no filter and no boss, no need for an unused boss. I may be wrong but I think it's an adaptor that's snugly in there.

Thanks guys. I have tried to use hook pull tools to see if i could pull the cap out and it didn't move. I thought it was cast like that. Would it be worth pulling out and using the screw on filter adapter or just leave it the way it is?

:scratchJerry for my 2 cents I would try a pilot bushing puller the slide hammer type a couple three hammers should break it loose. Thats how we got them out back in the day. Good Luck.
