Can anyone decode the "SPORT X1"?

old car ride.com....... I found where “sport x4”....... Someone quoted as saying that meant 4 speed......

In the last mentioned Vern discusses how “sport”and “x1”he only saw on cars built in Atlanta....

Interesting, I just asked Paul (PVS409) a similar question the other day.
My 62 also just states "Sport" Atlanta build as well.
Also, what does the BIG "6" in the bottom RH corner mean!

SPORT is the code that Atlanta used for all SS Impalas in 62 and X1 is for tinted windshield.

Interesting, I just asked Paul (PVS409) a similar question the other day.
My 62 also just states "Sport" Atlanta build as well.
Also, what does the BIG "6" in the bottom RH corner mean!

As I mentioned in the previous reply, SPORT is Atlant's code for SS.

Memory is a little fuzzy but I'm sure I read somewhere that '6' is an inspector's hand stamp.......
