State Of Our Hobby

The guy's got a way with words, I'll say that. :D

I for one am sick to death of hearing "green"! Green this, green that. Even that damn windex commercials say they're product is green. Wow, big deal. Like that's going to save the world.

It's only a matter of time before these "green" people do start attacking us for having our old cars. Of course, that's if they still make gas in a few years from now that our cars will actually be able to run on. (and afford!) :cuss

I'm very worried about the classic/antique car future. Not sure where things are headed.

Did you ever think the government would step in and make it illegal to smoke in most places? If they can do that, one day, they may come after us car guys too. Neighbors turning in neighbors because they have an old car in their garage. Our rights are getting sucked away every day and we just accept it. :scratch

That is one of the most well written testiments on today's society. I agree with every word he wrote because it is not just about the car hobby but everything that was once normal and a way of life. Thomas Jefferson wrote, and I paraphrase, that a little revalotions is good now and then. We, and I think I speak for most everyone hear, need to get involved in protecting our way of life from those "Greenies" and Enviromental Kooks who want to change our local laws and regulations to suit themselves and damn everyone else because "they" know better.

Get involved.

Green? Oh, WATERMELONS!

"Green" on the outside, Red SOCIALIST on the inside! :evil

Look closely at WHO these people are, the leaders they get their inspiration from, and their ultimate agenda.

SOCIALIST!

I want to know what I have to call myself to proclaim being the opposite of "Green"! :dunno

Lots of Greenies here

I live in a liberal University town where "Green" is hip and there are many folk who have been identified as being such. I'm on the fence a bit on this one. I recycle, I build new construction using energy efficient (and yes, "green" products) and I see what sells around here. Green is in.

New neighbor to me (a fellow faculty person, in this case a female with no perceptible talent other than obfuscation) has a team of "green lawn specialists" who ride bicycles to the job site, cut with rotary mowers (the hand kind, no motors) and then pick up EVERY scrap of trimmings and put it in a special bag (plastic, and not biodegradable if you can visualize that...) and then head off on their peds. Unreal, but interesting. They even have T shirts that announce their "greeniness" :).

When I went up before City Council to rezone a piece of land I had owned for 20 plus years, you wouldn't believe the attention paid to storm water drainage, even though I am miles from any body of water. There were three "greenies" on City Council and they all voted against my project, just in principle I think. The neighbors wanted me to save ALL the trees. I showed them a picture of their lots back when I owned that land, full of trees, now none. Where were they then? Why treat me any different?

We call these folks "NIMBYs", for Not In My Back Yard. You can go do it elsewhere, but not next to me. How selfish.

So I continue to recycle, I walk to work, I conserve energy, but...

At 4:09 each day I try to be behind the wheel of a dual quad 409 :) :) :). Not green, but definitely pleasurable, and I deserve it!

Cheers!

Tom, I can relate to your pain in the,,,,

our whole area and most of the western state are full of these greeners !!

They will put bike paths and these new bike boxes all over town.
Spend Billions on Light Rail but they won`t build or expand our roads,,
or even fill the pot holes,,

The I-5 Interstate bridge between Oregon and Washington is in dyer need of replacing as it is a bottle neck on the biggest major hyway north and south.

There idea?
Make it smaller so people won`t use it !!:bang

Really,, I`m not kidding !!
They also want to put in a toll to stop people from using it !!:doh

But it will have bike lanes and light rail !!

Water run off???
You haven't seen anything yet !!

We have the highest priced water/sewer bills in the nation !!

Build a new house?
Add a water runoff holding pond !

Cut a tree on your own property???
You have to get the cities OK and then if they let you, pay for a permit!!

I`m not long for staying in this state,,,
I just have to figure out where to move to,,
