Want to introduce myself to the group, I'm not new to the automotive world. I built a Transmission shop and have been in the business for the last 45 years, I just retired 2020 and sold my shop to a employee that has work for me for around 20 years so thats what I have been doing for a long time. My 1963 SS Impala 409 I have had since I was eighteen and built it form the ground up, one pay check went to rent and food the other to my Impala. Its has been sitting for a lot of years and now I'm going to freshen her up. I had a extra 425 HP motor and was going to build it myself but started talking with Jack Gibbs and have decided to have him help me with this project. My plan is to put a stroker kit with the Eldebrock Aluminum heads, install 4 bolt main caps and install a Mickey Thompson cross ram intake manifold using 2 650 Quick fuel carbs. so just thought I would share my project now that (One of these days is here) So will send pictures of the car and motor I will be putting together.
Here is some picture of the way the Impala sits now..

I always thought two 2 barrel carbs would be a great little set up. A couple of 500cfms would be just right. How did that set up work for you? Do you have any track time on the car?

Welcome aboard tranpro, very nice looking 63. I have a car that I bought in 1973 but you blew me out of the water, thats hard to believe you had it since you were 18. You will enjoy your time here on the forum, there are a lot of knowledgeable people here on X frame cars and W motors!!

Actually they are two 650 Holley two barrels, I built this motor back in the seventies and they where available at that time so that's whats on the 2- 4 barrel manifold they work really well. The motor in it now is a 425 HP 409 car came stock with this motor. Thanks for all the replays and likes..

How come it has a small block fan shroud? Usually a dead give away of a clone

I had my my hands on a 650 2 barrel, but never had the chance to play with one with one on a running engine. Something tells me it like gas.

That's new to me about the fan shroud. Its what I found and use when I assemble the 63.... A little back ground on the 63 back when I purchase the car, it had be stolen and strip of the motor and transmission I purchase the body for a 100 bucks then I spent 5 years assembling the car., so maybe that's why the fan shroud doesn't look like stock but will check into that. You have to remember I was very young and didn't know that much.
But thanks for the reply's.... And the 650 Holley's Love Fuel but that's what it takes if you want HP
