Used the sites VIN decoder for a 1958 Impala, none of the available choices come back as an Impala. The VIN in question starts with F which comes back as V8 Bel Air or Nomad, something I'm missing other then the $45K to buy this car?

There was no stand alone model in 1958 known as an Impala. They were the 1800 series Bel-Air known as the Spec. Sport Coupe and convertible

I am of the belief that the Impala in 58 was a sub series of the BelAir.

And in 59 the Impala was a series of its own.

Mike,

In all my books, general reference books, the top of line Coupes and Convertibles were designated as a 1958 Bel Air Impala and badged with the all new Impala script.

Kind of like my '56 Nomad. It was actually a Bel-Air Nomad. The script on the Radio Speaker said "Bel-Air", as well as the Rear Quarter scripts.

I remember my wife, cleaning our kids ears, and saying "it looks like you're growing potatoes, in there" :dohThe two, in the nose. Don't know, what that means.:yuck
