Hey guys, finally got my engine in my car!
Now I'm having a wonderful time trying to get it going.:doh
What size flywheel should I use?:dunno
I have a 12" but have issues with my starter.
Is a 14" what should go in it?

thanks

I want to use a high torq starter because of clearance issues.
I have a cross bolt starter that when bolted on is about an inch away from the flexplates.

then you may have a 153 tooth flexplate with a starter designed for 168. go with the bigger wheel my man.

I just went out and measured a 153 tooth at just over 12 inch in diameter and a 168 toth at 14 inch diameter. Your flywheel, bellhousing and starter need to match each other. You need a 168 tooth flywheel for the starter you have but do you have a bellhousing that will fit over the starter?

Ok, I went out and got a 168 tooth flywheel.:beerbang
I got a late model bellhousing that fit it.
I got a new high torq starter for a 427.
Now, the starter gets stuck to the flywheel and won't release:doh:cuss
I used shims to adjust, but still gets stuck:doh
Can annone let me know which starter I could use:pray
