Which kind of valve spring compressor do you use?

Gonna start some head work this spring. :clap

Decided to invest in a good spring compressor. (Weary of bumming & renting)

I'm used to the old 10 inch "C" style compressors to remove the valves, however I noticed a Stud Mount style compressor which appears both robust and useful.

(Plus I would think I'd be easier to store)

Any of you folks used these stud mount versions with any success? Thanks

If Im thinking of the same stud mount. When the heads are on the engine, they work pretty good. If the heads are loose, When you pull on the handle to compress the spring, It just moves the head around on the work bench. The head needs to be mounted to something.

Good point.

I'm now favoring the standard "C" style to keep things from slipping around.

Anyway... Thanks
