Wipers Won't Park Properly...

I finally got my '62 impala. It was fully nut and bolt restored at least 25 years ago. When you turn off the windshield wipers, they park several inches above the bottom, I noticed that 1 wire was disconnected, and if I disconnected and reconnect it, they go thru an extra cycle and then park properly. I think I have a 70s GM wiper motor. I don't think 1962 used an additional sweep of the motor 20211014_161017.jpgIMG-20211013-WA0071.jpegthey only park in the normal spot if I disconnect and reconnect the wires

If it has a copper flat ground strap remove and clean it and the mounting points up good. I was talking to a long time NAPA counterman who said that years ago this bad ground was a common cause of wiper motors that wouldn’t park.

NAPA here do a wiper rebuild, forget what company does it-Cardone maybe. A friend had one done, looks pretty good, but won’t be tested for a year or so on a working car.

This is my '62 Impala. My '62 BelAir has a smaller rectangular motor mounted in a different orientation
