I just picked this up. Casting # 3830814 Date J12. Looks stock but I haven't measured it yet. Freeze plugs were knocked out, cam bearings still in, missing main caps. So if the machine shop says she's good, what have I got? I've got to get rid of it before I start searching for aluminum fenders!

Is it a "QM" block with a VIN # intact? It's actually in the correct time frame for a Z-11 car being an October 1962 block probably puts it in the first batch of 25 cars IF it is a real Z-11 block. But don't forget, the same #814 block was also used on regular 409's so there's a chance that's what it may be. If it is a real Z-11 block, good luck on finding everything else!

Thanks Mark,
Nevermind.......I didn't know about the QM stamp and the front pass pad is blank.
Just took the paint off, it was like a "scratcher" lottery ticket and just like the ticket...nada. Well heck a '63 409 block that I didn't have yesterday...still sweet.
