Z11 distributor

Did the z11 distributor have a vacuum advance??? If it did Then simply have it to the right of cap about 6 to 7 oclock position when installed in engine . Then index rotor to point to #1.

I believe the 63 409 car distributor is all the same ending in 1023 and where used in 64 also on non transitor ignition cars

There was no “z11” distributor. I think someone thought that up to charge a premium for an otherwise run of the mill single point vacuum advance 409 unit. I’ve seen it stated that z11 distributors were dual point… another misconception.

As to your problem, it sounds like you have it installed 180 out. The vacuum advance canister should be facing #2 &4 cylinder on the passenger side when properly clocked.
