So I have been trying to purchase/trade for this car for some time. My dad was finally able to work out a trade a couple of years ago to get it. I have finally decided to start the restoration process and will be installing floor pans and braces next weekend. It will be a slow process as I live 7 hours from my dad's shop!

Here are a few pictures of where the car was when I first saw it and after I got it home and cleaned up. It's amazing what a set of rally wheels will do for a car! We were also able to track down the original seats from a previous owner as well! I know the car is rough but it is worth saving!!

Every '61 Chevy is worth saving in my eyes! Well pretty much every sixties Chevrolet for that matter. Looks like a perfectly good excuse to visit your parents more often. I'm sure they miss you a lot. My oldest son left for college a few months ago and today is his birthday. I wish he was heading home every now and then to work on an old project with me.

I agree with Jason. 1961 is my favorite year for cars no mater what brand. Good luck with your project and I look forward to updates.

I also agree about sons and fathers working together. My son and I used to work on everything together as he grew up. He is now in the Navy and I've seen him 3 days in the last two years. My Dad and I also work together on everything but he leaves for Florida today for the winter. Working with family on these old cars is part of what makes it so much fun...

Dad and I have been working on installing new floor braces and floor pans. Here are a few pictures of before and after. Will be finishing the driver side pan and welding in place over Christmas.

Not exactly.....although a test drive would be fine!!
