Got my gas tank pulled today. 12 gallons of some stinky ass gas in there. Looked like mud.
Going to install the new tank tomorrow if I can find somebody open that has the filler neck hose.

I did figure out my car has the original rearend while I was under there.

Saturday:
Installed the new gas tank and sending unit.

Sunday:
Got it running and it seems to run very good. Starts easy, charging system works, oil pressure light works. Maybe no water leaks, not overheating. No leaky exhaust. Ran it for an hour, off and on. Revved it good, opened the secondaries.a few times after warm-up. No ticks or knocks. A little more dinkering, some plugs and wires, it will be purring.

I'm so jazzed.

Gotta order some brake parts now.
Oh yea, picked up a Rochester 2bbl carb over the weekend for the future tri-power.DSC08027 50 SMALL.JPG

Ordered brake parts today. Be here tomorrow.
Got the car jacked up and pulled the drums.
The brake shoes are like new.

Cleaned the drums up and painted a very dark bronze metallic.
(looks black if not in bright light)

Tried the American wheels on.
I think they'll look great.

Slipped on some chrome exhaust tips from the parts stash.
Do you vote yes or no on those?

I vote no on the chrome exhaust tips but that's just my opinion. If you have aluminumized pipes, cut them on the double angle like the factory did then polish the aluminium pipe. My 2 cents worth :D

The exhaust isn't aluminized but it's nearly new and very correct using the original hangers. I don't want to modify it. I'm gonna skip the tips. After looking at the picture, the tip is too long and needs shortened. On the driver side it'd have to be shorter yet to work with the pipes and I think you'd see the upstream end of it, even with the tire installed. Too J.C. Whitney looking. Leaven' it stock.

Got the Torq-Thrusts mounted up with new tires.
235/60 in back and 215/65 fronts.

Finally got the front bumper from the previous owner.
He had it rechromed about 25 years ago and never unwrapped it.
You can see it lower right. California one-piece style.

Got the bumper and grille guard installed and got the remote hood pull working.
Oregon only requires one license plate and I chose a period correct one and I don't have a mate.
The license area on the front bumper looked naked.

I have a collection of old diecast license plate frames from dealerships.
Find a pair and one has a "new" car dealer plate from local "Bruce Chevrolet" (also my last name).
Worked out good for the front bumper.

Carpeted the trunk.
Bought a 3'-6" X 12' piece off the roll at Home Depot.
Exactly enough to do the job in 2 pieces
It's nearly a match for the interior carpet.

Put my spare tire, jack and toolbox down in the well.
Used some 1/4" wood paneling scraps I had over the top.
Showing the 1st panel piece but there's another next to it filling in the rest.
