Not to hijack the other post about 62-409 3 speed, I thought I would post some prices of 61 SS parts.
Below are the 1/4 panel side emblems, $1.80 each. Kind of pricey!
Below is the console or Base as they called it, $4.50.
And now the dash grab bar or Rail as Chevy described it, $13.50
In the same Chevy parts book (Aug 1962) it’s interesting to note very few references to a 61 409.
Since there were only 142 production cars built, I imagine the additional blocks that were cast were held as replacements. To get one you had to have the Chevy dealer contact his Zone office and or his GM Parts Warehouse.
There are various parts listed for repair, pistons, rods.
Note no 61 409 block listed for sale over the counter a year after it came out.
Note the 61 409 piston shows to be the same as the 62, however it is completely different.
