Just curious, but your car came without the 409 engine and transmission, so how do you know it's an original 409 car?? Doesn't really matter to me, just wondering. Best wishes with your parts search, Carmine.
Thank you for your message regarding my Impala. When I purchased the car, it was a basket case and not represented as a 409 car, it is a convertible however and the front clip was from a 409 as it had the original factory emblems. I disassembled and restored the car as if it just came off the chevy line. I like them when they are original. It has 8 coats of lacquer Roman Red and 10 coats of lacquer clear coat. Original style red bucket seat covers and interior, new White top.
Today I have a 1968 327 with a Muncie M20 as a drive line. I had the 327 for years on my stand and it was rebuilt, all the other parts I found or was directed to to install the 327 with a 4 gear. To make a long story short, not all parts were correct. I installed and removed the 4 speed and clutch seven times before everything was correct. I would never want to go through that again so I thought I would seek some help from this group.
The 409 was on FB Market and its a 64 dual quad engine, reuilt by a gentleman that was building a car however he passed before completion. The engine is still on the skid from the engine builder and missing the distributor, water pump, harmonic balancer and pulleys, no exhaust manifolds. It does however have the intake and dual carbs installed. I would like to have that 409 with a T10 just as if it was original. Just for me, not selling it.
