Where can I call to investigate a 1968 Chev Impala in Michigan?

A friend is looking to purchase from a used car lot .... in Grand Rapids but the
dealer has yet to transfer the car into his name......:

We would like to be able to check past ownership, etc.............

Any advice would be appreciated

I may not have been clear. I'm not looking for anyone to go to Grand
Rapids.

We have already looked at the car and would like to buy it.

But I need a phone number for the state motor vehicle dept or any other
gov office or private business that may be able to help with info on the car.

In Ontario you can purchase a UVIP (Used Vehicle Info Package) and that
lists all previous owners and if any liens are against the car.

Looking for something similar in Michigan

Sorry I missed ya at Burlington this year, only got out there a couple times.
Long way from Ontario's west coast.

My friend has looked everywhere for a 68 and most
are in pretty rough shape...........:eek:
We went to Grand Rapids on Saturday and this Impala is in nice shape with
new paint and some other repairs.........bang

Nice car for the money but we have some issues with the deal...

Thanx for the offer Jim, but I think everything is going to be OK.

My friend bought the 68 Impala from a used car lot in Hudsonville....
just off 196.......we looked at it last Saturday.

The dealer faxed a copy of the title to us and we have sent that off to
US Customs for export authorization.

Now, if the weather cooperates we'll pick it up next week........bang
