Probably not a bad idea to get rid of a cast iron bell housing
TttThat is a 56 bell.
Then quite obviously the forks could not have matched.........The bellhousing-fork combo might be wrong but all engines have the same centerline, you need the fork to match your bellhousing, the one you took out

It's a car,of course something will show it's head.I have a 553 bellhousing coming form a member in the beautiful state of GA. “When all else fails, go back to the basics” Having the known correct housing and fork just has to fix it. “What else could possibly go wrong?”
