I met Linda Vaughn one time at Thunder Valley Dragways once in the mid 1970s. As I remember it she was on her way to Denver and decided to drive from somewhere east and do a tourist trip to the black hills/MtRushmore on the way. Darrell Zimmerman had suggested she stop on the way.
It was earlier in the morning before time trials started and a few of us were talking near the tower in the staging lanes and a car pulled up. Linda got out. Glenn Rapp the track owner came out of the tower not knowing anything about her coming. I was standing about 4 feet from her when she looked at me and said "Oh your cute, I could just eat you up." I took a step back. Then she said "I'm sorry, your not ready for someone like me." I was maybe 16-17 years old then. Later she rode down the track in a convertible but no golden shifter.
