Last 409 motor I picked up came with a 7 blade clutch fan.The GM number is 3138748(clutch unit number),could not find any numbers on the fan.It has the proper rivets on the fan,was wondering if this could be a 409 fan.Fan came with my extra 409/425 hp engine. The fan is different than the fan on my engine in my Impala.Fan measures just about 19" across. The previous owner of the engine wrote "409" on the fan.Any help you can give me is truely appreciated.. John

I am sure others will chim in , but I think 19 inches is too wide

I am running a 63 409 in my 61 and am using the org stock shroud

about 18 inches across the fan is all I can get inside the shroud

I am still looking for an org. clutch and fan, so for now, I am using a flex fan

just my set up, might be wrong ??

Not a thermal clutch

Pretty sure the non thermal clutches came a bit later. 19" is probably BOP.

Don't know about the clutch unit John, but the fan could be an early Cadillac A/C fan.:dunno
