Hooters: Always a good Title to get your attention. Saturday started out with the promise of being a lousy work day, then my buddies called me and told me they were holding a space for me at the local Hooters car event, the cause being Breast Cancer. I put off mowing lawns all day long and shifted gears to make it a little late to the event, but they were successful at saving that spot. I decided at the last minute to take the '63 Corvette, not the 409 car. Reasoning was my buddies were giving me a lot of guff for not driving the Corvette lately.

So I spent the day in the sun having fun with my buddies, saw a lot of new cars from the area, and met a few gals :).

Enjoy the pics. My buddies had put together quite a lineup: a Ferrari, a 1965 Corvette, my '63 Split Window, a 1966 Chevelle that won Best of Show, a original 1969 Z-28, and my fave, a 1959 Buick Rat Rod, replete with original patina.

That's me in front of the '63 Vette with my new friend. The wife just got on an airplane headed for the Beach for the week :).

Cheers!

The 59 "Buick" is an Olds!

I used to have one, don't recall what engine they used but it was damn fast for such a big car.

Hard car to find, far fewer made than Chevy.
It has almost enough fins and chrome to hold my interest. :roll

Oops!

I must have had Buick on my mind, a friend just bought a 1961 version. You are correct, she is an Olds, I think it's a 371???. Plans are to stick a dual quad 455 in her later this summer. She's part of a Rat Rod Club that my buddies are in to. It runs, shifts into OD, and cruises nice. The guy with the Ferrari and the 1965 Corvette owns it. Here's a pic of him with my new friend in front of his other two cars.

Cheers!

It got better!

The latter part of the day was fun as well. Came back from the Hooters Event and cleaned the SS car and took it out for a local "cruise in" with another group of car guys. Got two events in for the day :).

Only stayed for a an hour and a half, but enjoyed taking the 409 car out. Being the only one in town (the only "W") lots of guys want to see under the hood, so I offered up the chance. Always draws a crowd, doesn't it?

Saw some other great cars, including a really nice 396 Camaro convert and a 427 late 60s full-sized Chevy with a factory four speed. Very nice :) :) :).

Cheers!
