Metal project: The 2 x 72 belt grinder begins...

I do have the back and left side covered with the metal panels and the top should be protected although I did leave a few inches on top for air movement. Not sure which way the fan blows, it hasn't come on yet. I suppose maybe a clear door over the front would be a good idea.
Actually this is a direct drive no slippage as hadbot freight one does. Bucktool more money ,but good reviews.
Reviews say they can be used wood or metal .Actually I do have a Porter Cable similar to the last one (uses a 4 x 36 belt) but these are more of a sander than a grinder. The Metal Muncher would devour them!

Got the Porter Cable before I had a H.F. near me. Used to have to drive 35 miles to get to one. (and stop for Taco's along the way)

Where do you get the belts?
Tons of places on the net and prices are all over the place. I got a mix of different grits to try out here:

The ceramic are insane at removing metal and last a long time. There are MANY different kinds of belts and range from 36-1000 grit. Ceramic, Zirconia, aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, Trizac and even a type like scotch bright pads.
Lots to learn on belts as they all have their uses. There are some good video's on youtube about belts and how to choose them.
I know my Delta won't do that.
