Older stroker crank

I have a friend who found a 1/4" stroker crank at a California crank shop for sale. It's standard on the rods and 0.020 mains. I assume they welded then reground it to stroke them. Worth grabbing?

Skip, I guess the price would dictate whether its worth a shot. I would be concerned about the .020 mains. Not because of lack of strength, but If it is 409 and welded to gain 1/4 stroke, why isnt it std.? If it is big block turned down to 409 specs. , why isnt it std.? There may be a logical answer, but I would want to know more before spending money.

radius

Cut cranks have a large radius that makes them stronger than stock GM. Just use chamfered bearings.

One of my Pontiac buddies with a rare RAV motor has one that spins to 8000 all the time. I can pick it up for around $250+ shipping.
