I believe the straight line tuning was standard for the radio and pushbutton was an extra cost option.

Somebody may have to resort to reading the Shop Manual radio removal procedures. I don't have my manual handy.

Guy on Chevy talk putting stock radio in 62 had same problem with the heat sink. They remove glove box and speaker mount which they said had tabs pointing to floor and bent out of the way and radio went right in???

I'd like to help but I don't have a 61 or 62 Chevy. (unless someone wants to help me out and buy them for me, then I'll be happy to do a full pic tutorial on each year)

Wish I could be of more help to him, but I really don't recall an issue with my '62 radio removal. Glove box door off, glove box out, unbolt it where I had to, and out it came. I sent it to turnswitch to get if refigured and once returned, in it went. I have the assembly and repair manuals in my garage. If I get out there today, I'll take a look and see if there is anything in them for radio removal, Carmine.
