Spirolocks used to have a little cutaway right at the end to make it easy to get a pick or tiny flat screwdriver under it and start it out of the groove, but don't know if they still do its been a while.
They do John but I’m not sure I did that right either. I may have those in backwards too. I don’t think it matters until you want to take them out. Only need to take one out per piston. Patience will be the word today!
Jewelry is in! The right way this time! That was a marathon in patience getting spiral locks out.
John they have the notch in both ends so they can go either way
Next dilemma, oil pump pick up must be different for 65. Fits the 348 pan I have but not the 65 409 pan. Is there a small or big block one that fits or make one.
don, I have a BBC one that I got with the pan. It was fit for the pan but the gears are wore bad. I’ll use that as a template and modify the new oil pump one I got. They are 2 different size pipes from BBC to 348/409
Nova Automotive. They’ve been around forever and the owner Rick is an old car guy. He knows these engines and does all our diesel stuff at work. Never have any issues.
I put a rocker on the stud just to see if it fit and something doesn’t look right. It bottoms out on the stud but the roller end hits the spring retainer. It doesn’t bottom on the stud right either. Is there something like a sleeve supposed to be on the stud? I bought the rockers from a member and not sure if there’s something missing.
also do I have to use the old springs to get my push rod length or is that a race engine thing. New Springs are 6108 from show cars. Old springs are from different heads than the 817 I have
