Transmission crossmember

I remember some discussion a while ago about which direction the transmission
crossmember should be installed. My 59 crossmember is tapered in the
portion were the transmission mounts. Does the low portion of the taper
go to the front or rear of the car?

Yes Geary... the engine / transmission leans back a bit.
