Installed Tach in 1960 Impala Dash

This is neat. So neat I think I will copy your idea. Is this the tach you used from Speedway Motors? They say it is 2-1/16 inch; same one? Thank you, Bob

    1959 inner fender....

1960 Impala: I was able to remove/replace the drivers side inner fender after removing the grill, radiator, support etc. after a motor swap and clutch pivot bkt welded to the frame. Passenger side, probably but unsure. Without access from the front, I doubt it.

    intake oil splash shield

They are available so why not use one? The stock 348 4 barrel shield fits the Tri-Power so there should be a bunch out there. They are easy to take off and replace. (After market manifolds, probably a different story) I'm not sure that the 409 uses the same shield but others can say.

Feds actions may force you to use ethanol in your W engine.

If you believe the government is mistaken in forcing all gas to be ethanol blended than please comment against this EPA proposal. Lawn mowers, chain saws, old cars and tractors will be harmfully effected. Fight this government overreach. Visit: http://www.regulations.gov Type in Docket...

Fuel gauge float leaking, what can I do? 60 Impala?

I think this is my forth time trying to address this issue. One float recommended here was a Ford bulb that I bought at the part counter at a Ford dealer. They must all be made from the same porous brass rolled stock in China. I'm thinking a plastic float might be the solution, but which...

3x2 Vintage Speed carb base plates (tri-power)

Vintage speed solves this problem by recommending the bolt on the either the front or rear carb to be set up with a jam nut so the bolt is loose in the lever, similar to what GM did on their triple by making the hole oblong to allow a small amount of free play.

3x2 Vintage Speed carb base plates (tri-power)

I ordered a VS kit and progressive linkage for my 60 348. I was pleased with the results. A good running set up. The kit comes with some carb internals to make it run as a triple set up. I bought the carbs at swap meets and eBay until I had enough to make a presentable set of 3. VS does...

    3749948 Intake Manifold - Vacuum

I added power brakes to my 60 Impala. I used all factory original parts. The carb had a port in the throttle body base that I used for a vacuum source.

    348 3x2 vacuum slider switch

My valve acts similarly. When you back off the T idle screw, raise the tab on the vacuum valve to its upper limit, hold T blades closed, choke off and adjust the clearance (1/32 inch) between the tab and lower control lever you have put in enough clearance so the valve mechanism and linkage...

60 Impala Tri-Power set up. Please comment on originality

Thanks for the reply. I'm not planning on using the manifold. Only using it as a fixture to trim it out. I'll swap carbs (this summer) and sell it complete with my old carbs. The bkt is original with an RP stamp. I'm finding Show Cars is selling carb parts that need modification or just...

60 Impala Tri-Power set up. Please comment on originality

I plan to replace my Tri-Power carbs with this restored original Tri-Power set. First set, I used Vintage Speed bases and progressive linkage and it is a fine running set up. I plan to switch to this pictured set because I want it to look and function as new, complete with the crazy vacuum...
