    409 +.100 valves

Hey guys, I am having trouble getting a set of +.100 longer valves with an 11/32 stem I have found that a BBC stock valve will work fine but am having trouble with the exhaust. Manley will make me a set but surely there is a production valve already out there that may work. Anyone else ran...

    409 rod question

Hey Guys, This may have been asked before but what is the solution for the 409's weak rod problem? Does anyone make a better rod for a stock 409? Or does anyone make a piston with a corrected pin heigth to accept the 6.135 BBC rod with a stock 409 crank? I would like to use an H beam style...

    CFD Stamped Block

I too have this same block #814 with CFD stamped on it, also it has an X on the front. My block is a QG which is a 340HP and it also had #817 heads so it definitely was a 340HP, but what exactly does the CFD mean. I found this motor in a 57 Chevy in an old junkyard. Jeff

Pics of 409 in 34 Ford

29 Motor looks awesome in that "A". Are those the Sanderson headers on there? I am still not sure what to do about headers on my engine. I might just use the 340hp manifolds, they fit so good and do not see any steering problems with them, plus I am going to run a full hood. I have not...

    348 block question

Thanks for the reply guys, sorry I did not have any time today to pull the valve covers, I had to go the Atlanta Motor Speedway and watch the race today! Ed409 made a good point that those blocks are thick walled and can easily be bored to 409 specs. Is the block the same as a 409 just a...

    348 block question

Hey Guys, I recently purchased a complete 409 motor but after further inspection it happens to be a 348 block#3857655. What puzzles me about it that it has a 409 oil pan with dipstick on the right and also is has a 305 hp highrise 4bl 348 intake on it. The block has an X cast on the front...
