HI there, new guy here. I spent 7 years doing a frame off resto on my 62 Impala. It was originally just a coupe with 6 cylinder, power glide, bench seat and not an SS. I built it into a 62 Impala SS 409 tribute car with bucket seats, Super T10 and all the SS bits. Although the motor is...

350 to 348 motor mount conversion

Ok, no one is more frustrated than I am with this situation. Just to clear the air a little, in case I have missed anything, here is a review of this car from day 1 of my acquiring it: - motor left factory with 6 cylinder and powerglide - when I got it, it had a 350 SBC out of a 1 ton truck...

Hey Aubrey, how are things in Hanna? Actually I have never owned a 409 period let alone a 2x4. This is a 1965 348 truck motor decaled to look like a 409. I am not really into the racing/horsepower thing, just the looks. When I open the hood on my 62 SS tribute car I didn't want people to look...

Hmm, thought about that but didn't think there was much point checking until the body was back on the frame. While the angle of the rear half of the drive shaft will change a lot with the extra weight, it's not really got anything to do with the changes to the motor due to the center bearing...

350 to 348 motor mount conversion

Well everyone, we had a long weekend up here in canucksville and after much reading, consulting and a lot of sweat and swearing in my garage this weekend, I finally have my motor in place with 1 degree of tilt front to back. I repaired my transmission mount and first tried 1/4" spacers under...

350 to 348 motor mount conversion

Boy, you guys never cease to amaze me. In fact this is a 348 block out of a 65 farm truck. I had just put my thru bolts back in on my original motor/frame mounts and noticed that dropping the back end of the motor will give me my clearance in the front, but where the oil pan dips down it's...

@ Paul, As you can see in the pix, I really only need the passenger side mount. Driver side is intact. If you happen to have one available that you can spare that would be great. I would gladly make a contribution to your grand kids's college fund. Or your 62 Impala acquisition fund. :)...

Oops, sorry Entourage Guy, you did bring that up first. I guess I got distracted by the comment about the distributor hitting the firewall. :)

Well Paul, I think you hit the nail on the head here with the transmission mount holes. Imagine my suprise when I went home last nite and discovered someone had hacked off the bottom hole on the passenger side. Now who would do something like that and why? :mad I mean the hole is still there...

What would the dimensions be?ie hole to base and width of sides with thru holes? And how much? I would be forever grateful.

Going to have to take a look at that when I get home tonite. If memory serves me right, I seem to recall that there was one hole on on side and two holes on the other side. Picked the holes that made the thing level. But I could be wrong about that. I may have to sneak home and take a peak...
