    Black Trash Z-11

These aluminum Monaco Blue fenders were originally on Bill Connell's Z-11 and later Jack Cooley's Black Trash car which ended up in John Mounts collection in WA. Don Shaffer brought them back and I put them on the Living legend in 1988.

Hello Greg, Wild Bill Burge here member #233 with card dated 8-31-86. You always put out a very informative newsletter. Wish I knew where my old 1963 Living Legend is but still do own my original '67 Corvette I bought new at age 22.

    Strange Stuff

Thunder was the lightest Z-11 as the owner was an aerospace engineer and made many of the parts himself.

    Z-11Drivers

After a parade lap at the 1988-9 Super Chevy Indy all the 409 cars were lined up on the return road in front of the grandstands and ole Hayden leaned in and kissed my wife right on the mouth! True story! It was the year he was presented with the red '62 Belair.

    Z11 Cars, All Accounted For???

Don Shafer drove out to John's place back in the 80's and bought a trailer full of parts. I bought the front end from Don and was told my front end was from one of the front ends off the Black Trash car. It was in terrible shape. In 1990 I bought/traded another front clip from Don that I think...

Lonnie....please send me your address as I will send you a camshaft and old Z-11 intake gaskets from my old warrior; the only pieces I have left. I remember giving Steve that ride years ago. Great kid! Wild Bill wburge409@gmail.com

    Z11 Cars, All Accounted For???

I found the old '63 drag car in Hemmings Motor News then located all the aluminum parts in Washington or Oregon. Bumpers from Rusty Symmes. The engine block was found in southern Ohio and top half was from Don Shafer. Lamar rebuilt the engine. Loved those Super Chevy shows. Wonder where the car...

    1962 409CI with 3 Speed ?

In the mid 80's I found rough 380/409 3-speed '62 Belair Bubbletop on a used car lot in a small village north of Columbus, Ohio for $1,200.00! Rust in the usual spots but used that car to flat toe then open trailer my '63 "Living Legend" racer. Traded it with cash to Ronnie Evans for a new 5th...

    another Z11 picture

Many years ago at 19 I sold my blown up 425 409 for $75.00 dual fours and all. Later I drove my QA long block with a big crack in #7 cylinder to the railroad yard one night and shoved it off my truck into a ditch. The 340 hp was the most reliable and fun with 456's. Wild Bill

    another Z11 picture

Billy Lagano's Z-11. I wrote the complete history of this car in 1989. Have a copy of the original invoice. Billy lived a couple hours north of me in Florida and died earlier this year. He was still building engines a couple years ago when I last talked to him. The original cracked block was...

In Mark's post I just recognized and remember P.I.D's vintage Caddy hearse/emergency vehicle. Purchased cheap from nearby Bridgeville, PA.

    Unknown Z-11 Chevy in 1965 running a unknown T-Bolt

I thought Billy Lagano's maroon car is in a small town south east of Cleveland, Ohio. I have a copy of the invoice. I wrote the complete history on the Z-11 Impala in 1988.

    Z-11 camshaft identification

I remember someone...maybe Donny Shafer, told me the original Eonic camshafts had a higher lift than the later over the counter cams. Anyone know for sure? Wild Bill
