1963 327 factory tach?

I am trying to remember the background requirements for standard factory tach. As in a 1963 Impala SS with V8, seems if it was over 300hp and manual transmission it came standard? If lower hp or automatic it was a option.

Pretty sure it had to be a 4 speed to come with a tach. My car was originally a 300 hp 3 speed. No tach.

My '63 Impala is a non-ss, 327/300hp, 3 speed, tach and posi.

This is what I understand it to be: All 300 HP 327 with 4 speed and 409 with 4 speed came standard with a tachometer from factory. But, if you wanted a tachometer, you could get a tachometer with any V-8 if ordered as an extra cost option - RPO U16 for $48.00.
